Youth Work Policy
1. Vision on Youth Development
Our club aims to create an environment in which children and young people can optimally develop within baseball and softball. Enjoyment, personal growth, team spirit, and respect are central values. We strive for a sustainable sporting experience in which every player, regardless of level or ambition, feels welcome and is given opportunities to grow.
2. Policy Guidelines
2.1 Development‑focused Training
The club prioritizes long‑term development over short‑term results.
- Training sessions are adapted to age and developmental stage (motor skills, technical and tactical development).
- Fundamental skills such as throwing, catching, hitting, and running form the foundation.
- Players rotate positions at a young age to promote all‑round development.
- Match results are secondary to individual progress and enjoyment.
2.2 Quality and Support of Coaches
A strong youth program starts with competent guidance.
- Coaches are encouraged to follow baseball/softball education and certification programs.
- The club provides internal training and knowledge sharing (e.g. clinics, workshops).
- There is a clear training pathway per age category (e.g. Beeball, Minors, Cadets).
- Coaches are evaluated and supported by a youth coordinator.
2.3 Safe and Respectful Sporting Environment
We create a positive climate in which every child feels safe.
- Respect for teammates, opponents, umpires, and coaches is mandatory.
- A code of conduct applies to players, coaches, and parents.
- Bullying, discrimination, and unsportsmanlike behavior are actively addressed.
- The club has a designated safeguarding/ trusted person.
2.4 Inclusion and Accessibility
Everyone is given the opportunity to participate in baseball and softball.
- New players are welcome, even without prior experience.
- Attention is given to both recreational and competitive pathways.
- Financial barriers are reduced (e.g. loan equipment, installment payments).
- We encourage participation of both girls and boys in both sports.
2.5 Progression and Talent Development
The club supports players throughout their sporting journey.
- Clear progression opportunities to higher age categories and senior teams.
- Talented players are given additional development opportunities without performance pressure.
- Collaboration between youth and senior coaches to ensure a smooth transition.
- Focus on retention: keeping players active in the sport long‑term.
2.6 Parental Involvement and Communication
Parents are key partners in the youth program.
- Clear communication about vision, rules, and expectations.
- Regular feedback moments and information sessions.
- Parents are encouraged to support the club (volunteering, parent council, parents vs. kids games, transportation, etc.).
- Positive sideline support is actively promoted.
